Answers to Common Moving Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Planning a move can raise a lot of questions. Below are answers to the most common questions about our moving services across North Carolina. If you don’t see your question listed, feel free to contact us directly for assistance.

General Moving Questions

How long has Easy Moving been in business?

Arrow Down

Easy Moving is a locally owned moving company based in Charlotte, NC, founded in 2021. The company is owner-operated — the same people who quote your move are on the trucks — and has earned a 5.0-star rating based on roughly 600 Google reviews from Charlotte-area customers.

Are your movers employees or subcontracted labor?

Arrow Down

Every Easy Moving crew member is our own trained team member — never day labor or subcontractors. Your move is handled start to finish by people who work for Easy Moving, under our insurance and our standards.

Do you background-check and train your moving crews?

Arrow Down

Yes — every crew member passes a background check before joining. New movers train alongside experienced leads on furniture protection, padding and wrapping, and safe loading before working unsupervised.

Which cities are outside your service range

Arrow Down

For local moves, Easy Moving serves Charlotte and everything within about a 35-mile radius — including Concord, Matthews, Huntersville, Gastonia, Monroe, Indian Trail, Waxhaw, and nearby Fort Mill and Tega Cay, SC. Cities like Raleigh, Greensboro, Wilmington, and Asheville are outside our local range, but we handle them as local or long-distance moves originating from the Charlotte area.

What’s your USDOT/MC number, and why does that matter?

Arrow Down

Easy Moving’s federal registration is USDOT #4096541 and MC #1561797. These numbers matter because they let you verify us independently: enter the USDOT number at the FMCSA’s SAFER database (safer.fmcsa.dot.gov) to see our active operating authority and insurance on file. A mover who won’t show these numbers is a mover to avoid.

Can I read verified reviews before booking?

Arrow Down

Yes. Easy Moving has a 5.0-star average across 600+ verified Google reviews, which you can read on our Google Business Profile or Reviews page. We never write, buy, or filter reviews — what you see is what real Charlotte customers posted.

Is my property insured on every move, not just long-distance?

Arrow Down

Yes. Every Easy Moving job — local or long-distance — is performed by insured company, and every shipment includes released-value protection at no extra cost. Fuller coverage (full-value protection) is also available as an add-on. Ask us to explain both options when you get your quote; we’ll put your coverage in writing.

What’s the difference between released value and full-value protection?

Arrow Down

Released-value protection is the basic coverage included free with every move: the mover is liable at 60 cents per pound per item — so a 10-pound TV is covered at $6, regardless of its price. Full-value protection makes the mover responsible for the repair, replacement, or cash value of any item damaged in its care, based on the declared value of your shipment, and typically costs extra. For anything you’d hate to lose, full-value protection is worth discussing.

Are there items you won’t take liability for (cash, jewelry, documents)?

Arrow Down

Yes. Like all licensed movers, we ask that you personally transport items of extraordinary value, including cash, jewelry, prescription medications, passports and legal documents, firearms, collectibles, irreplaceable family heirlooms, and important digital data. These items are excluded from standard mover liability.

In addition, we cannot accept liability for damages resulting from moving items that are unusually oversized, bulky, or not designed to naturally fit through standard doorways, hallways, stairwells, or rooms. Examples may include oversized furniture, large safes, gym equipment, specialty appliances, or custom-built pieces that require significant maneuvering, disassembly, structural modifications, or unusual moving methods to fit through the home.

Please keep valuables with you on moving day and let us know in advance about any high-value, oversized, or specialty items you would like us to move so we can properly assess, document, and protect them.

What types of moving services do you provide?

Arrow Down

Easy Moving offers local moving, long-distance moving, house moves, apartment moves, commercial relocation, packing services, storage solutions, furniture assembly, piano moving, and specialty item moving throughout North Carolina.

Are you licensed and insured?

Arrow Down

Yes, Easy Moving is fully licensed and insured to operate in North Carolina, ensuring your belongings are protected.

How do I get a moving quote?

Arrow Down

You can request a free, no-obligation quote online or by phone. We may schedule an in-person or virtual walkthrough to provide accurate flat-rate pricing.

Pricing & Estimates

How accurate is an online quote versus an in-person walkthrough?

Arrow Down

An online or phone quote is accurate when your inventory list is accurate — for most apartments and smaller homes it’s all we need. For larger homes, an in-person or video walkthrough removes the guesswork, which is why we quote most moves by phone but walk through bigger properties before giving a number. Either way, Easy Moving puts your estimate in writing: hourly figure for local moves, one binding flat rate for long-distance.

Do you offer virtual (video) walkthroughs for quotes?

Arrow Down

Yes. You can email photos or a short video walkthrough of your home to support@eaymoving.com, or schedule a live video call, and we’ll build your written quote from that — no visit required. It’s the fastest way to get an accurate number, usually within 15 minutes during business hours.

What’s the difference between hourly and flat-rate pricing, and which is better for me?

Arrow Down

Hourly pricing bills the actual time your crew works and suits local moves, where travel is short and the work is predictable — we include a written estimate so the surprise, in most cases, can be in your favor. Flat-rate pricing is one fixed number regardless of hours, and it’s how we price every long-distance move, so a delay on the road never costs you more. Short version: local = hourly; long-distance = binding flat rate.

How far in advance is a quote valid?

Arrow Down

Your written Easy Moving quote is valid for 30 days from the date issued, as long as your inventory and move details stay the same. If your date shifts into a peak period, we’ll confirm any rate difference with you before anything is booked — never after.

Will my price change if I add items after the estimate?

Arrow Down

Only for what you add, and only with your approval beforehand whenever possible. Your quote is based on the inventory information you provide. If the inventory increases meaningfully before moving day, we will update the written estimate so you can review and approve any changes in advance.

Please note that if the inventory provided during the estimating process is not accurate or if additional items are added on moving day, the price may be subject to change. For local moves, additional items typically require more labor time, which can increase the final cost. For long-distance moves, additional items increase the total volume being transported, which may affect the final price.

We believe in complete transparency and will communicate any necessary adjustments as soon as they become apparent. What we never do is surprise you with unexpected charges without explaining why the price has changed.

Do you charge extra for large or heavy items (safes, gun cabinets, gym equipment)?

Arrow Down

Items over 200 lbs. — including safes, gun cabinets, pianos, commercial gym equipment, and other unusually heavy or bulky items — may carry a heavy-item fee because they require additional crew members, specialized equipment, extra protection, or advanced moving techniques. Whenever these items are disclosed during the estimating process, the fee will be quoted up front and included in your written estimate.

If a heavy item exceeding 200 lbs. is discovered on moving day and was not included in the original inventory, our crew will notify you before proceeding. We will assess the item, explain any additional requirements, discuss any applicable charges, and obtain your approval before performing the service. This ensures we can safely handle the item, properly allocate the necessary resources, and continue providing the highest level of service without any unexpected surprises.

To avoid delays and ensure the most accurate estimate, please let us know about any heavy or specialty items when requesting your quote.

Do you charge more for last-minute or same-day bookings?

Arrow Down

No. If we have crew and truck availability, you pay our standard rates. We do not charge extra simply because your move is last-minute or needs to happen the same day.

Same-day and next-day availability depends on our schedule, crew availability, the size and complexity of your move, and the time of year. Smaller moves can often be accommodated on short notice, while larger homes, long-distance relocations, and specialty moves may require additional planning and availability.

The best way to check availability is to call us at (704) 290-3303 or fill out our online quote request form. We’ll review your move details and let you know honestly whether we can accommodate your timeline.

If we can do it, we’ll make every effort to get you moved quickly, safely, and at our standard rates.

What payment methods do you accept?

Arrow Down

Easy Moving accepts major credit and debit cards, cash, Zelle, and cashier’s checks.

A $100 reservation deposit secures your move date and is applied toward your final balance. The remaining balance is due upon completion of the move, after the final walkthrough has been completed with you. This allows us to ensure that all agreed-upon services have been performed, your belongings have been placed where requested, and everything looks good before payment is finalized.

You’ll receive an itemized receipt, providing complete transparency from start to finish.

Is tipping expected for the moving crew?

Arrow Down

Tipping is never required or built into your bill — but it is always appreciated when a crew earns it. Customers who choose to tip typically give 10–20% of the move total, split among the crew.

Our crews work hard to provide exceptional service, protect your belongings, and complete your move as efficiently as possible. They are trained to work safely while minimizing moving time, often going above and beyond to ensure your furniture and home are protected throughout the process. If you feel your crew delivered outstanding service, a tip is a meaningful way to recognize and reward their effort, professionalism, and dedication.

That said, tipping is always entirely at your discretion, and our team will provide the same high level of service regardless.

Do you charge extra for stairs or elevators?

Arrow Down

For hourly local moves, no — stairs and elevators simply take time, and time is what you’re already paying for. For flat-rate long-distance moves, stairs, elevators, and long carries are priced into your binding quote up front once you tell us about the buildings on both ends.

Do you offer discounts for military, seniors, or students?

Arrow Down

Yes, 5% off for active-duty military and veterans, seniors, and students with ID. Mention it when you book; any discount is applied to the written estimate, not negotiated on moving day.

Is there a minimum charge for a small move?

Arrow Down

Yes. Local moves are subject to a 2-hour labor minimum at your quoted hourly rate, plus applicable travel time. Travel time covers the time it takes for the crew and truck to travel from our dispatch location to your pickup address and return from your destination address once the move is complete.

This minimum helps cover the cost of the professional crew, moving truck, fuel, equipment, licensing, insurance, and the time reserved specifically for your move.

For studio apartments, single-room moves, or single-item moves, the 2-hour minimum plus travel time is often the total charge. We believe in transparency, so we’ll explain all costs and provide a clear estimate before you book, ensuring there are no surprises on moving day.

Most importantly, all standard furniture protection materials and services are included in your hourly rate at no additional cost. This includes moving blankets, shrink wrap, tape, floor protection, and standard furniture protection used by our crews. Unlike some movers, we do not add surprise material fees or furniture protection charges after your move. The rate you are quoted already includes the professional equipment and protection necessary to move your belongings safely.

Do you offer flat-rate pricing?

Arrow Down

Yes, we provide transparent flat-rate pricing with no hidden fees once your move details are confirmed.

What factors affect the cost of my move?

Arrow Down

Costs may depend on the size of your home or office, distance, packing services, specialty items, and access conditions.

Do you require a deposit?

Arrow Down

Some moves may require a deposit. Details will be clearly outlined in your service agreement.

Packing & Storage

Can I pack some rooms myself and have you pack the rest?

Arrow Down

Absolutely. Partial packing is one of our most popular options. Many customers choose to pack clothing, books, and personal items themselves while having our professional crew pack kitchens, artwork, electronics, glassware, and other fragile items. You pay only for the rooms or items we pack.

Items packed by Easy Moving are covered under our standard mover liability protection. However, we cannot accept responsibility for damage to the contents of boxes or containers packed by the customer, as we cannot verify the packing methods, materials used, or the condition of items inside prior to transport.

That said, regardless of who packed the box, our crews will always handle your belongings with care and professionalism. We do not throw, mishandle, or carelessly move customers’ items. Every box and piece of furniture is carefully loaded, secured, transported, and unloaded with the goal of delivering your belongings safely and making your move as smooth and stress-free as possible.

What size and type of boxes do you recommend for books vs. clothes vs. dishes?

Arrow Down

Books and other heavy items should be packed in small boxes (approximately 1.5 cubic feet). Anything larger can quickly become too heavy to carry safely and may increase the risk of box failure. We also recommend using small boxes for fragile items, as smaller boxes are easier to handle carefully and place securely on the truck.

Clothes can be packed in medium or large boxes, or in wardrobe boxes if you would like to keep them on hangers. To save time and reduce packing costs, many customers choose to leave hanging clothes on their hangers and cover them with large plastic bags. An effective method is to group several hanging garments together, pull a large plastic bag over them, create a small opening at the top for the hanger hooks, and secure the hangers together with a zip tie. This allows the clothes to remain on their hangers throughout the move and be quickly rehung at the destination, saving both packing time and money.

Dishes and glassware should ideally be packed in small, sturdy boxes or double-walled dish-pack boxes. Each item should be individually protected using bubble wrap, packing paper, foam, or other appropriate cushioning materials to prevent movement and reduce the risk of damage during transportation. We never recommend placing dishes, glassware, or other fragile items into boxes without proper protection, as even a carefully loaded truck experiences normal movement during transit. Taking the time to properly wrap and cushion fragile items is one of the most important steps in ensuring they arrive safely.

As a general rule: the heavier or more fragile the item, the smaller the box should be. This helps ensure safer handling, better protection, and a more efficient move.

How do you protect mattresses, mirrors, and glass tabletops?

Arrow Down

Mattresses are placed in sealed mattress bags to help keep them clean, dry, and protected throughout the move. Mattress protection is included with every move at no additional charge, and our crews will install and remove the mattress bags as part of the moving process.

For mirrors, glass tabletops, framed artwork, televisions, and other fragile items, we typically use a combination of professional moving blankets, cardboard protection, corner protectors, shrink wrap, and other appropriate packing materials to safely secure and transport them. Depending on the item, additional custom protection may be used when necessary.

Our goal is to minimize movement and protect vulnerable surfaces during loading, transportation, and unloading. In most cases, these standard protection materials and services are included with every move at no additional cost, helping ensure your belongings arrive safely without surprise material charges.

Can you pack a home office (electronics, monitors, cables) safely?

Arrow Down

Yes. We regularly pack and move home offices, including computers, monitors, printers, networking equipment, desks, office chairs, and other electronics.

Monitors are carefully wrapped, padded, and secured for transportation. Computers and other electronic equipment are cushioned and clearly labeled to help ensure an organized setup at your destination. If you still have the original manufacturer boxes, we recommend using them whenever possible. When you do not, we can provide appropriate packing materials and cartons designed to protect electronics during transport.

We can also disassemble and reassemble office furniture and workstation setups when required, including desks, standing desks, shelving units, conference tables, and other office furniture. Upon delivery, our team will place the furniture where you want it and reassemble it according to your preferences, helping you get your workspace back up and running as quickly as possible.

As with all moves, our goal is to protect your equipment, keep components organized, and make the transition as smooth and stress-free as possible.

Do you offer wardrobe boxes so clothes stay on hangers?

Arrow Down

Yes. We offer wardrobe boxes that let your hanging clothes go directly from your closet rod into the box, then into your new closet, all while remaining on their hangers. This is one of the fastest and most convenient ways to move a closet and helps minimize wrinkles and the need for folding.

Because wardrobe boxes are specialty packing materials that require planning and truck space, we ask that they be requested before moving day. During the estimating process, we will discuss how many wardrobe boxes you may need so we can properly prepare and bring the correct quantity with us for your move.

If you think you would benefit from wardrobe boxes, simply let us know during the quoting process. We will include them in your estimate and make sure they are available when your move begins.

How much does professional packing typically add to the cost?

Arrow Down

The cost of professional packing depends on the size of your home, the number of belongings, and how many fragile items need special attention. As a general guideline, full professional packing typically adds about 20–35% to the total cost of a move. For a typical 2-bedroom home, full packing usually ranges from $600–$1,200, including packing materials. Partial packing—such as kitchens, glassware, artwork, and other fragile items—is significantly less and is one of our most popular services.

At Easy Moving, we keep pricing simple and transparent. Specialty items such as artwork, televisions, mirrors, antiques, or unusually fragile belongings may require additional materials or custom protection, which will always be discussed with you in advance.

What’s the difference between short-term and long-term storage with you?

Arrow Down

Short-term storage is designed to bridge temporary gaps of a few days, weeks, or a couple of months. It’s a great solution when you’re waiting on a closing date, completing renovations, building a new home, or coordinating a delayed move-in. Your belongings are professionally wrapped, inventoried, and stored in our secure storage vaults until you’re ready for delivery.

Long-term storage is ideal when you need to store your belongings for several months or longer. Storage is billed on a month-to-month basis, allowing you to keep your items in storage for as long as necessary without being locked into a long-term contract.

In both cases, your belongings remain professionally protected while in storage, and the same moving company that picked up your items will handle the delivery when you’re ready. Unlike self-storage facilities, there is no need for you to rent a truck, load a storage unit, or move your belongings multiple times.

Please note that storage-in and storage-out services are billed as separate moving services. For local moving customers, the first month of storage may qualify at no charge depending on the service package selected.

It’s also important to understand that, in some situations, renting your own self-storage unit may be the better option. Self-storage facilities often provide lower monthly rates for long-term storage and allow you to access your belongings whenever you want. This can be especially beneficial if you expect to add items, remove items, or frequently access your belongings during the storage period.

Like most moving companies, Easy Moving operates a warehouse-style storage system rather than a public self-storage facility. For security and operational reasons, customers generally do not have unrestricted access to their stored items. If regular access to your belongings is important, we may recommend a self-storage facility instead. We believe in helping customers choose the storage solution that best fits their needs, even when that means recommending an alternative to our own service.

Is your storage facility climate-controlled?

Arrow Down

Yes. Our storage facility is climate-controlled, helping protect your belongings from extreme temperatures, humidity fluctuations, and other environmental conditions that can affect furniture and household goods over time. This is especially important in areas with significant temperature changes, high humidity, or other challenging climate conditions.

Climate-controlled storage helps provide additional protection for wood furniture, antiques, electronics, artwork, documents, mattresses, fabrics, musical instruments, and other sensitive items that may be affected by moisture, heat, cold, or temperature fluctuations.

In addition to climate control, your belongings are professionally wrapped, padded, and stored in a clean, secure warehouse environment designed specifically for household goods. Our facility is monitored and managed to help ensure your items remain safe while in storage.

Unlike outdoor storage containers or non-climate-controlled units, warehouse vault storage provides an added layer of protection from weather, moisture, pests, dust, and other environmental factors. Our goal is to keep your belongings as secure and well-protected as possible from the day they enter storage until they are delivered back to you, providing maximum protection against both environmental conditions and unauthorized access.

Can I add or remove items from storage mid-term?

Arrow Down

Yes, with advance notice. Because stored goods are professionally wrapped, inventoried, and placed into storage vaults for maximum protection and efficient use of warehouse space, accessing specific items during the storage period typically requires scheduling and coordination in advance.

If you need to add items to storage or remove items from storage before final delivery, additional handling, transportation, labor, or moving charges may apply at our standard rates depending on the scope of the request. The exact cost will depend on factors such as the number of items involved, the amount of labor required, and whether transportation services are needed.

If you anticipate needing regular access to your belongings, frequently adding or removing items, or retrieving items on short notice, we often recommend renting your own self-storage unit instead. In many cases, self-storage provides greater flexibility, allows unrestricted access during facility hours, and can be a more practical solution for customers who expect to manage their stored belongings throughout the storage period.

Our warehouse storage system is designed primarily for secure, long-term protection rather than frequent access. However, if you know in advance that certain items may need to be retrieved early, let us know before storage begins and we will do our best to organize and position those items for easier access whenever possible.

Do you offer storage if my new home closing is delayed?

Arrow Down

Yes. Delayed closings, construction delays, lease gaps, renovation projects, and unexpected scheduling changes are some of the most common reasons customers use our storage services.

Our storage solution allows us to load your belongings once, place them into secure storage, and then deliver them when your new home is ready. This eliminates the need to unload into a temporary location and move everything a second time, helping reduce stress, handling, and the risk of damage.

We offer both short-term and long-term storage options depending on your situation. Whether you need storage for a few days, a few weeks, or several months, we can typically accommodate your timeline and adjust the delivery date as your plans become finalized.

Please keep in mind that storage-in and storage-out services are billed as separate moving services, and monthly storage charges may apply depending on the length of storage and the amount of space required. We will clearly explain all costs before your move so you know exactly what to expect.

If there is a possibility that your closing date, move-in date, or project timeline may change, let us know during the estimating process. We can help you determine whether warehouse storage or a self-storage facility would be the most practical and cost-effective solution for your specific needs.

Do you provide packing materials?

Arrow Down

Yes, we supply boxes, padding, bubble wrap, and specialty packing materials as needed.

Can you pack fragile or high-value items?

Arrow Down

Absolutely. We offer custom packing and crating for artwork, antiques, electronics, and other delicate items.

Do you offer storage solutions?

Arrow Down

Yes, we provide secure short-term and long-term storage options.

Moving Day Questions

What’s your cancellation or rescheduling policy? What’s your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

Arrow Down

We understand that moving plans can change, and we do our best to be flexible whenever possible.

If you need to reschedule your move, simply let us know as soon as possible. In most cases, we can transfer your deposit to a new available date and time without any additional fees. The more notice you provide, the more options we will have available for rescheduling.

If you need to cancel your move, deposit refunds and credits are handled based on the amount of notice provided and the resources that have already been reserved for your move. Once a move is scheduled, we begin reserving crew members, truck availability, and calendar space specifically for your project.

Because every situation is different, we encourage customers to contact us directly if their plans change. Unexpected circumstances, delayed closings, weather events, construction delays, and family emergencies are all realities of the moving process, and we will always make a reasonable effort to work with you and find the best possible solution.

Please note that last-minute cancellations or changes may limit our ability to reassign the reserved crew and truck time, which can affect deposit eligibility. We will always communicate any applicable fees or deposit policies clearly and fairly.

Life happens during moves. If something changes, call us as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to help.

What should I have ready before the crew arrives?

Arrow Down

The answer depends largely on the services you selected before moving day. If you hired us for packing, unpacking, furniture preparation, or other full-service options, there may be very little you need to do before we arrive. In some cases, the best thing you can do is simply relax and wait for our team to handle the process.

If you are packing your own belongings, we recommend having boxes sealed and labeled by room whenever possible. It is also helpful to set aside any personal items you plan to transport yourself, such as medications, important documents, passports, jewelry, cash, firearms, valuables, chargers, and other irreplaceable items.

To help the move go as smoothly and efficiently as possible, please make sure any necessary building requirements have been arranged in advance. This may include reserving elevators, securing loading docks, obtaining parking permits, notifying building management, or reserving truck parking spaces. These preparations can significantly reduce delays and help us complete your move more efficiently.

If children or pets will be present during the move, we recommend keeping them in a safe and comfortable area away from active moving paths whenever possible.

Most importantly, if you are unsure what should be prepared before moving day, simply ask. Every move is different, and we will gladly explain exactly what is needed based on the services you selected. Our goal is to make the process as easy and stress-free as possible while ensuring the move is completed safely and efficiently.

Do I need to clear a parking spot for the truck?

Arrow Down

If possible, yes. The closer our truck can park to your home, apartment, office, or storage unit, the faster and more efficiently we can complete your move. On hourly moves, shorter carrying distances often translate directly into less labor time and a lower overall cost.

For most moves, we recommend reserving approximately 40–60 feet of curb space for the moving truck, or providing access to a driveway or designated loading area when available. Larger moves may require additional space depending on the size of the truck and local parking conditions.

For apartments, condominiums, office buildings, gated communities, and other managed properties, it is important to determine in advance whether parking permits, loading dock reservations, elevator reservations, gate access codes, or other building requirements are necessary. These arrangements are typically the customer’s responsibility and can significantly impact the efficiency of the move if not secured beforehand.

If parking near the entrance is limited, don’t worry—we can often work with alternative parking arrangements. However, longer carrying distances, multiple elevator trips, stairs, or difficult access conditions may increase the time required to complete the move.

If you’re unsure what parking arrangements are needed, simply provide us with your address during the estimating process. We’ll help identify any potential access challenges and recommend the best setup to ensure your move is completed as safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively as possible.

What if my building requires a reserved freight elevator or move-in window?

Arrow Down

No problem. If your building, community, or property management company requires a reserved freight elevator, loading dock reservation, move-in window, parking permit, gate access, or any other scheduling requirements, simply let us know during the estimating or booking process. We will incorporate those requirements into your move plan and schedule our crew accordingly.

To help ensure a smooth move, we recommend securing all required reservations and approvals as early as possible. Many apartment buildings, condominiums, high-rises, and managed communities have specific moving procedures that can affect timing and access on moving day.

If your building requires a Certificate of Insurance (COI), we can typically provide one directly to your property manager, HOA, leasing office, or building management company before moving day. We recommend notifying us of any COI requirements as soon as possible, as some properties have specific insurance wording, coverage limits, or approval procedures that may require additional processing time.

The more information we receive in advance regarding access requirements, elevator reservations, loading zones, parking restrictions, and building policies, the more efficiently we can complete your move and help avoid unnecessary delays on moving day.

How many movers and trucks will be assigned to my job?

Arrow Down

The number of movers and trucks assigned to your move depends on several factors, including the size of the move, the amount of furniture and boxes, access conditions, stairs, elevators, carrying distances, specialty items, and your desired completion timeline.

As a general guideline, smaller moves such as studios, one-bedroom apartments, and storage units are often handled by 2 movers and 1 truck. Medium-sized homes commonly require 3 movers and 1 truck, while larger homes, office relocations, and more complex projects may require 4 or more movers and multiple trucks.

However, no two moves are exactly alike. Our recommendation is based on what we believe will provide the safest, most efficient, and most cost-effective service for your specific project. In many cases, assigning additional movers can significantly reduce the total time required to complete the move.

Your written estimate will clearly specify the recommended crew size and number of trucks assigned to your move. While larger crews have a higher hourly rate, they are often able to complete the move substantially faster. In many cases, this results in a similar overall cost while providing a faster, more efficient moving experience, reducing the length of your moving day and helping minimize the physical strain and disruption associated with moving.

For guaranteed-price and long-distance moves, crew and truck assignments are determined based on the scope and logistics of the project to ensure adequate manpower, truck space, and scheduling.

If you’d like to discuss alternative crew sizes or completion-time priorities, we’re always happy to review the options and help determine the best setup for your move.

What if something doesn’t fit through a doorway or staircase?

Arrow Down

Our first priority is always to move your belongings safely while protecting both your furniture and your home. Before attempting to move a large item through a tight space, our crews will carefully evaluate the access path and determine the safest approach.

In many cases, furniture can be successfully moved by disassembling components such as bed frames, headboards, table legs, sectional pieces, shelving units, doors, or other removable parts. Our team is experienced in furniture disassembly and reassembly and will use the least invasive method necessary whenever possible.

If an item appears too large to safely fit through a doorway, hallway, elevator, staircase, or other access point, we will stop and discuss the situation with you before proceeding. We will explain the available options, any associated risks, and any additional services or equipment that may be required.

Please note that some oversized, unusually bulky, custom-built, or specialty items may have been brought into a home during construction, through large openings, or by methods that are no longer available. In these situations, additional services such as specialized rigging, hoisting, window removal, railing removal, or other third-party assistance may be required and are typically not included in a standard moving service.

What we will never do is force furniture through an opening, use excessive force, or proceed with a method that creates an unreasonable risk of damage to your furniture, your home, our crew, or anyone involved in the move. If an item cannot be moved safely, we will clearly explain the situation and work with you to determine the best available solution.

Do you disconnect/reconnect washers, dryers, and refrigerators?

Arrow Down

In many cases, yes. Our crews can typically disconnect and reconnect standard electric washers, electric dryers, and refrigerators as part of the moving process. This may include disconnecting and reconnecting standard water supply lines for washing machines and refrigerators when the connections are readily accessible and in good condition.

However, for safety, liability, and code-compliance reasons, we do not disconnect, reconnect, install, modify, or test gas appliances, gas lines, hardwired electrical connections, built-in appliances, or specialty plumbing connections. These services should be performed by a properly licensed plumber, electrician, appliance technician, or other qualified professional. We are happy to move the appliance once it has been properly disconnected and prepared for transportation.

Please note that older plumbing connections, corroded fittings, damaged hoses, leaking valves, custom installations, stacked washer and dryer units, built-in refrigerators, water filtration systems, and ice-maker connections may require additional evaluation and are handled on a case-by-case basis. If your home has any of these features, please let us know during the estimating process so we can properly plan your move.

While we make every effort to assist with standard appliance connections when appropriate, customers are ultimately responsible for ensuring that all plumbing, electrical, gas, and appliance systems are functioning properly before and after the move. If there is any concern regarding the condition of existing connections, we may recommend having a licensed professional perform the disconnect and reconnect services.

The more information you provide about your appliances before moving day, the better we can prepare and ensure a smooth, safe, and efficient move.

Do you move televisions and mount/unmount them?

Arrow Down

Yes. We regularly move televisions of all sizes, from small bedroom TVs to large-screen home theater displays. For transportation, televisions are protected using professional moving blankets, cardboard protection, shrink wrap, TV boxes when available, and other appropriate materials based on the size and type of television being moved.

For local moves, many televisions can be safely transported using professional padding and protection methods. For maximum protection, especially on long-distance moves or for high-value televisions, we may recommend a dedicated TV box or the original manufacturer packaging when available.

Our crews can typically unmount televisions from existing wall brackets and prepare them for safe transportation. We strongly recommend placing all mounting hardware, screws, brackets, remotes, power cords, and accessories in clearly labeled bags or containers. Whenever possible, we will help keep these components organized with the television system to simplify reinstallation.

Depending on the scope of the move and the services requested, we may also be able to remount televisions at the destination. However, television mounting is considered a specialty installation service and may require additional time, labor, tools, hardware, wall evaluation, stud location, and proper anchoring methods. Not all walls or mounting situations are suitable for standard installation, and additional charges may apply when remounting services are requested.

If television mounting or remounting is important to your move, please let us know during the estimating process so we can discuss the available options and ensure the appropriate crew, tools, and time are allocated for the job.

As with all specialty items, our goal is to transport your television safely while helping make the setup process as convenient and stress-free as possible.

Do apartment complexes need a certificate of insurance from you?

Arrow Down

Many apartment communities, condominiums, office buildings, gated communities, and managed properties require movers to provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) before granting access to loading docks, freight elevators, service entrances, or other moving areas. These requirements vary by property and are becoming increasingly common.

Yes, Easy Moving can provide a Certificate of Insurance when required. To avoid delays, we recommend providing your property manager’s contact information and insurance requirements as early as possible during the booking process. Some properties have specific coverage limits, wording requirements, additional insured requests, or approval procedures that may require additional processing time.

Our team will work directly with your property management company, HOA, leasing office, or building administrator whenever possible to ensure the necessary documentation is submitted before moving day.

Because building requirements can vary significantly from one property to another, we encourage customers to notify us of any COI requirements, elevator reservations, loading dock reservations, parking restrictions, or move-in procedures as soon as they become available. Early coordination helps ensure your move proceeds smoothly and prevents last-minute issues that could impact access to the building.

Our goal is to make the process as simple as possible so you can focus on your move while we handle the logistics and documentation required by your property.

What happens if an item is damaged during the move?

Arrow Down

While our goal is always to deliver your belongings safely and damage-free, moving involves handling large and sometimes fragile items, and occasional damage can occur despite careful planning and professional handling.

If you believe an item has been damaged during the move, please notify your crew leader before the crew leaves whenever possible, or contact our office as soon as the damage is discovered. Prompt reporting allows us to properly document the situation, investigate the circumstances, and begin working toward a resolution as quickly as possible.

Coverage for any verified damage is governed by the valuation and protection option selected in your moving agreement. All moves include the federally required Released Value Protection, which provides coverage based on $0.60 per pound per article. Customers may also have the option to purchase additional protection coverage, where available, for greater protection.

We ask that customers inspect their belongings and notify us of any concerns promptly. Supporting documentation such as photographs, descriptions of the damage, and other relevant information may be requested as part of the review process.

Easy Moving has earned hundreds of 5-star reviews because we believe in addressing legitimate concerns fairly and professionally. Our reputation has been built not by avoiding problems, but by responding to them responsibly when they occur. When damage happens, our focus is on finding a reasonable solution and helping our customers through the claims process—not creating unnecessary arguments or obstacles.

For additional details regarding coverage limits, claim requirements, and filing procedures, please refer to the claims process outlined below.

For interstate moves, federal regulations generally allow customers up to 9 months after delivery to file a claim. Carriers are required to acknowledge claims within 30 days and either settle, deny, or provide a status update within 120 days, with additional updates required if the claim remains unresolved.

At Easy Moving, we strive to respond much faster whenever possible. Our goal is to acknowledge concerns promptly, communicate openly throughout the process, and work toward a fair resolution without unnecessary delays.

What if I find damage after the crew has already left?

Arrow Down

Report it as soon as you discover it. While we always encourage customers to inspect their belongings and notify the crew of any concerns before the crew leaves, we understand that not all damage is immediately visible. It is common for customers to continue unpacking and organizing for days or even weeks after a move, and occasionally an issue may not be discovered until later.

If you believe an item was damaged during your move, please take clear photographs of the damage and contact support@easymoving.com as soon as possible. Include your move date, contact information, a description of the item, and any relevant photos or documentation so we can properly review the situation.

Do you offer unpacking services after delivery?

Arrow Down

Yes. We offer professional unpacking services to help you settle into your new home as quickly and comfortably as possible. Whether you would like us to unpack a few key areas or your entire home, we can customize the service to fit your needs.

Our team can unpack boxes, place items on countertops, shelves, tables, and in closets according to your directions, reassemble furniture, and help organize rooms so your home is functional from day one. Many customers choose to have us unpack kitchens, as they tend to contain the largest number of items and often provide the greatest time savings and convenience.

We can also remove most empty boxes, packing paper, shrink wrap, and other packing debris generated during the unpacking process, helping leave your home cleaner and reducing the amount of cleanup required after the move.

Unpacking services are typically billed based on the labor time required and can be added to your moving services before or even during the move. Because every home and customer preference is different, the cost will depend on the number of boxes, the level of organization desired, and the amount of furniture assembly or setup requested.

If you’re interested in unpacking services, let us know during the estimating process and we’ll help determine the level of assistance that makes the most sense for your move. Many customers find that professional unpacking dramatically reduces moving stress and allows them to enjoy their new home much sooner.

How long does a move take?

Arrow Down

The duration depends on the size and distance of the move. We provide an estimated timeline during booking.

What should I do before moving day?

Arrow Down

We recommend decluttering, labeling boxes, securing valuables, and ensuring clear access for movers.

Can you disassemble and reassemble furniture?

Arrow Down

Yes, our team handles furniture disassembly and reassembly as part of our services.

Long-Distance Moves

How is long-distance pricing calculated (weight, distance, cubic feet)?

Arrow Down

At Easy Moving, long-distance moves are typically priced as a binding flat-rate move, meaning your price is based on the inventory you provide, the amount of truck space required (cubic footage), the distance being traveled, and any logistical considerations such as stairs, elevators, long carrying distances, storage requirements, shuttle services, or other access-related factors.

Unlike some moving companies that base pricing primarily on weight and may adjust charges after the truck has been loaded and weighed, our goal is to provide a clear and predictable price before your move begins. Once we have an accurate inventory and understand the details of your move, we can provide a written binding estimate that allows you to know your costs in advance.

It is important that the inventory provided during the estimating process is complete and accurate. If additional items are added before or during the move, or if the actual inventory differs substantially from what was originally quoted, the price may be adjusted to reflect the additional volume, labor, truck space, or services required. Any such changes will be discussed with you before proceeding whenever possible.

At Easy Moving, we believe in treating every customer with a high level of care and flexibility. In many cases, if you have a few small additional items on moving day that were not included in the original inventory, we will simply accommodate them at no additional charge. However, this flexibility is intended for minor additions only. Larger inventory changes, multiple additional items, or significant increases in volume may require an adjustment to the quoted price to ensure adequate truck space, labor, and scheduling.

Our philosophy is simple: the more accurate the inventory, the more accurate the quote. When the inventory and scope of work remain substantially unchanged, the binding price on your written estimate is the price you can expect to pay, without surprises on moving day.

Will the same truck and crew handle my entire move, or does my shipment transfer?

Arrow Down

In most cases, your belongings remain on an Easy Moving truck from pickup through delivery without being transferred between trailers, freight terminals, warehouses, or third-party carriers. This helps reduce unnecessary handling, minimizes the risk of damage, and provides greater accountability throughout the moving process.

Unlike many large van-line and brokerage-based moving companies that may combine shipments, transfer belongings between trucks, or utilize multiple carriers during transit, our preference is to maintain control of your move from beginning to end whenever possible.

One of the biggest advantages of working directly with Easy Moving is that we handle the transportation ourselves. In most cases, once your belongings are loaded, our truck begins traveling toward your destination the same day. This means you typically do not have to wait days, weeks, or even months for your shipment to be consolidated with other customers’ belongings or routed through multiple terminals before delivery. Our goal is to move your belongings directly and efficiently from your old home to your new one.

Depending on the distance, scheduling requirements, crew availability, and operational needs, the same crew that loads your belongings may not always be the same crew that completes delivery. However, your move remains under the management and coordination of Easy Moving, and we work to ensure consistent communication, careful handling, and a smooth delivery experience throughout the process.

If your move involves any special routing, storage, third-party services, or circumstances that could affect how your shipment is handled, we will discuss those details with you before the move begins so you know exactly what to expect.

Our goal is simple: minimize handling, maximize accountability, and keep your belongings moving safely and efficiently from origin to destination.

What’s a typical delivery window for a multi-state move?

Arrow Down

Delivery times for long-distance moves depend on the distance being traveled, weather conditions, road conditions, scheduling logistics, and any storage or special services involved. However, because Easy Moving typically transports your belongings directly rather than consolidating them with multiple customers’ shipments, our delivery windows are often significantly shorter than those of many traditional van lines.

For many moves within neighboring or nearby states, delivery is often completed the same day, the next day, or within just a few days of pickup. Longer routes may require additional transit time depending on mileage and driving regulations, but our goal is always to deliver your belongings as quickly and safely as possible.

One of the biggest advantages of our approach is that, in most cases, once your belongings are loaded, the truck begins traveling toward your destination immediately. Unlike many large van-line carriers that may hold shipments in warehouses, transfer them between terminals, or wait to combine multiple customers’ loads, we focus on getting your belongings moving toward their destination without unnecessary delays.

As a result, our customers typically avoid the extended delivery windows that can sometimes range from several days to multiple weeks with consolidated moving services. When timing is important, we will discuss your preferred delivery schedule during the estimating process and provide the most accurate delivery timeline possible based on your specific move.

Your written estimate will include the delivery expectations and any scheduling commitments associated with your move so you know exactly what to expect before moving day.

Do you provide GPS tracking or delivery updates in transit?

Arrow Down

While we do not currently provide customer-facing GPS tracking, we believe that direct communication is often more valuable than watching a truck icon move across a map.

Throughout your move, you will receive updates at key stages of the process, including pickup completion, departure from the origin location, major transit updates when appropriate, delivery scheduling confirmation, and an estimated arrival window before delivery. Our office and operations team remain available throughout the move to answer questions and provide status updates whenever needed.

In many cases, customers also have direct communication with their move coordinator, dispatcher, or crew leader, allowing them to receive real-time information regarding the progress of their shipment.

Because Easy Moving typically handles long-distance moves directly rather than transferring shipments between multiple carriers or terminals, we are able to provide more accurate and meaningful updates regarding your delivery schedule. If weather, traffic, road conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances affect the timeline, we will communicate those changes as quickly as possible.

Our goal is simple: to keep you informed, answer your questions promptly, and ensure you always know where your move stands from pickup through final delivery.

Can I request a guaranteed delivery date, and does that cost more?

Arrow Down

Yes. Because Easy Moving typically operates dedicated trucks rather than consolidated van-line shipments, we are often able to provide a specific delivery date or a very narrow delivery window for long-distance moves.

In many cases, a guaranteed delivery date can be accommodated without any additional charge, especially when the request is discussed during the estimating and scheduling process. Our goal is to create a realistic schedule that works for both your move-out and move-in timelines, helping you avoid the uncertainty that often comes with traditional long-distance moving services.

Unlike many large carriers that provide broad delivery windows spanning several days or even weeks, we generally begin traveling toward your destination shortly after loading is complete. This allows us to offer more predictable delivery schedules and better communication throughout the move.

Certain routes, expedited schedules, remote destinations, or highly specific delivery requirements may require additional planning or resources. If any premium service, expedited delivery fee, or special scheduling charge applies, it will be clearly disclosed and included in your written estimate before you book—never added as a surprise later.

The best way to secure a preferred delivery date is to discuss your timeline with us during the quoting process. We will review the route, distance, and scheduling requirements and provide the most accurate delivery commitment possible before your move begins.

Our philosophy is simple: when we commit to a delivery schedule, we take that commitment seriously and work hard to deliver on time.

What happens if my new home isn’t ready when the truck arrives?

Arrow Down

While we always encourage customers to coordinate their move dates as closely as possible with their closing, lease start, construction completion, or occupancy date, we understand that delays can happen. Fortunately, a delayed move-in does not have to become a major problem.

If your new home is not ready when your belongings are scheduled to arrive, we can typically work with you to develop a temporary solution. Depending on the circumstances, this may include adjusting the delivery schedule, placing your belongings into short-term storage, or arranging other logistics to safely protect your shipment until delivery can be completed.

Please keep in mind that additional storage, handling, transportation, waiting time, or rescheduling services may result in additional charges depending on the length of the delay and the solution selected. Any applicable costs will be discussed with you as soon as the situation becomes known so there are no surprises.

The most important thing you can do is notify us as soon as possible if there is any chance your move-in date, closing date, or occupancy timeline may change. Early communication gives us more flexibility, more available options, and often helps reduce the overall cost and complexity of accommodating the delay.

Because we regularly assist customers experiencing delayed closings, construction delays, lease gaps, and other scheduling challenges, our team is experienced in helping navigate these situations and finding practical solutions when plans change unexpectedly.

Our goal is to keep your belongings safe, protected, and ready for delivery while helping make an already stressful situation as smooth as possible.

Are there restrictions on what can legally cross state lines?

Arrow Down

Yes. Federal regulations, state laws, safety requirements, and insurance restrictions prohibit licensed moving companies from transporting certain items. For the safety of our customers, our crews, and the public, these items cannot be loaded onto our trucks.

Common prohibited or restricted items include:

  • Propane tanks and fuel containers
  • Gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene, and other flammable liquids
  • Paints, paint thinners, stains, solvents, and similar chemicals
  • Aerosol cans and pressurized containers
  • Fireworks, explosives, and combustible materials
  • Ammunition and certain other regulated items
  • Opened cleaning products, pool chemicals, and hazardous household chemicals
  • Perishable food and refrigerated or frozen items
  • Certain live plants, depending on state agricultural regulations and destination requirements

In addition, we strongly recommend that customers personally transport items of extraordinary value such as cash, jewelry, passports, legal documents, prescription medications, firearms, family heirlooms, collectibles, sensitive electronics, and irreplaceable personal items.

Agricultural regulations, environmental laws, and transportation requirements can vary from state to state. Certain states may restrict plants, firewood, produce, soil, and other organic materials in an effort to prevent the spread of pests, insects, and plant diseases. If you are unsure whether an item can be transported, simply ask during the estimating process and we will help clarify any restrictions that may apply to your move.

Before moving day, we will gladly review any questionable items with you and help identify the safest and most appropriate solution. Our goal is to prevent surprises, ensure compliance with applicable regulations, and keep your move safe and efficient from start to finish.

How much notice do you need for an interstate move versus a local one?

Arrow Down

The more notice you can provide, the better. Advance planning gives you the greatest selection of moving dates, crew availability, and scheduling options. However, we understand that not every move comes with weeks or months of preparation.

Local moves can often be scheduled with relatively short notice, and in some cases we may even be able to accommodate same-day or next-day requests depending on crew and truck availability, the size of the move, and the time of year.

For long-distance and interstate moves, we generally recommend scheduling as early as possible. A few weeks of notice is ideal, especially during busy seasons, end-of-month periods, holidays, and summer months when demand is highest. Earlier scheduling allows us to properly reserve trucks, crews, travel schedules, and any special services your move may require.

That said, many successful moves are arranged on short notice. If your timeline is tight, don’t assume it’s too late. Give us a call at (704) 290-3303 or submit a request through our website. We’ll review your specific situation, explain the available options, and provide an honest assessment of what can realistically be accommodated.

Our goal is simple: whether you’re planning months in advance or need help right away, we’ll do everything we reasonably can to make your move happen smoothly and efficiently.

How long does a move from Charlotte to Atlanta typically take?

Arrow Down

The length of a long-distance move depends on several factors, including the distance being traveled, the size of the move, loading and unloading requirements, weather conditions, traffic, road conditions, building access, and any storage or special services involved.

For many regional moves, delivery is often completed the same day, the next day, or within just a few days of pickup. Longer-distance moves may require additional transit time depending on mileage and logistics, but because Easy Moving typically transports your belongings directly rather than consolidating shipments with other customers, our delivery timelines are often significantly shorter than those offered by many traditional van-line carriers.

In most cases, once your belongings are loaded, our truck begins traveling toward your destination immediately. This direct transportation approach helps reduce handling, minimizes delays, and allows us to provide more accurate delivery expectations.

Because every move is unique, we provide estimated pickup and delivery schedules based on your specific route and project requirements. Your written estimate will clearly outline the expected delivery timeline so you know what to expect before moving day.

If timing is particularly important, let us know during the estimating process. We will review your schedule and recommend the most efficient solution to help ensure your belongings arrive when you need them.

What’s the best time of year to move from Charlotte to Florida?

Arrow Down

While a move to Florida can be successfully completed at any time of year, many customers find that fall, winter, and spring offer the most comfortable moving conditions. During these months, temperatures are generally milder, humidity levels are lower, and there is typically less risk of weather-related disruptions compared to the peak summer season.

Summer remains one of the busiest moving periods of the year due to school schedules, lease cycles, and home sales. While we regularly complete moves throughout the summer, higher demand can make preferred dates book more quickly and may reduce scheduling flexibility.

If you plan to move during peak moving season, we recommend booking as early as possible. Mid-week and mid-month move dates often provide greater availability and flexibility than weekends and end-of-month dates, which tend to be the most popular.

It’s also important to consider that certain regions may experience seasonal weather patterns, heavy tourism traffic, or increased relocation activity during specific times of the year. The ideal moving date depends not only on the destination, but also on your schedule, budget, housing timeline, and personal preferences.

The good news is that with proper planning, there is no “bad” time to move. Whether you’re relocating during the busiest summer months or during the quieter winter season, Easy Moving will help you identify the most practical and cost-effective schedule based on your specific route and moving needs.

Do you offer flat-rate pricing for Charlotte-to-New York moves?

Arrow Down

Yes. Easy Moving typically prices long-distance moves using a binding flat-rate quote, allowing you to know your moving cost before the move begins. Rather than billing by the hour, your price is based on factors such as the inventory being moved, the amount of truck space required, the distance traveled, and any special access requirements at the pickup or delivery locations.

Your written estimate is designed to include the services necessary to complete your move, such as loading, transportation, fuel, and delivery. Additional logistical considerations—including stairs, elevators, long carrying distances, building requirements, parking restrictions, Certificates of Insurance (COIs), shuttle services, or other access-related challenges—can also be incorporated into the estimate once we understand the details of both locations.

Because every long-distance move is unique, we carefully review the addresses, inventory, building requirements, and delivery conditions before providing a final quote. This allows us to identify potential challenges in advance and provide the most accurate pricing possible.

As with all binding estimates, the accuracy of the quote depends on the accuracy of the inventory and scope of work provided during the estimating process. If the inventory remains substantially unchanged, the binding price on your written estimate is the price you can expect to pay.

Our goal is simple: provide transparent pricing, eliminate surprises, and give you the confidence of knowing your moving cost before moving day.

How does pricing differ for a Charlotte-to-Georgia move versus a Charlotte-to-Florida move?

Arrow Down

The primary factors that affect long-distance moving costs are the distance being traveled, the amount of belongings being moved, the truck space required, and the access conditions at both the origin and destination locations.

Generally speaking, longer routes require more driving time, fuel, labor, and operational resources than shorter routes, which typically results in a higher overall cost. However, mileage is only one part of the equation. Factors such as stairs, elevators, long carrying distances, storage requirements, shuttle services, parking restrictions, and building access requirements can also affect pricing.

At Easy Moving, long-distance moves are typically quoted as a binding flat rate, allowing you to know the cost before the move begins. Every quote is based on the specific inventory being transported, the route involved, and the logistical requirements associated with your move.

Because each destination, home, and inventory is different, the best way to compare moving costs between locations is to request a personalized quote for each route you are considering. We can quickly provide written estimates that allow you to compare your options and make an informed decision based on your budget, timeline, and moving needs.

Our goal is to provide transparent, easy-to-understand pricing so you can focus on planning your move rather than worrying about unexpected costs.

Do you provide long-distance moving services?

Arrow Down

Yes, we handle long-distance relocations within and beyond North Carolina.

Is my property insured during long-distance transport?

Arrow Down

Yes, your items are covered under our insurance policy, with additional protection options available.

Example: Do you do out-of-state moves?

Arrow Down

We do out-of-state moves on a case by case basis; please contact us for specifics.

Specialty Moving

How do you handle piano moves specifically (upright vs. grand)?

Arrow Down

Pianos require specialized handling, equipment, and experience, which is why we treat them differently from standard furniture items.

For upright pianos, our team carefully protects all finished surfaces using moving blankets, padding, shrink wrap, and specialized securing techniques. The piano is then moved using professional equipment designed to safely support its weight and protect both the instrument and the surrounding property. Upright pianos are never lifted by decorative components such as legs, pedals, or trim pieces.

For baby grand and grand pianos, additional preparation is typically required. Depending on the piano’s design and the access conditions involved, components such as the legs, pedal assembly, music stand, and other removable parts may be carefully disassembled, padded, and secured for transportation. Upon delivery, the piano is reassembled and positioned according to your instructions.

Because pianos vary significantly in size, weight, value, accessibility, and complexity, piano moving services are quoted individually. Pricing is typically based on factors such as the type of piano, the number of stairs involved, carrying distances, elevators, tight access conditions, specialty equipment requirements, and the level of manpower needed to complete the move safely.

In most cases, piano moving fees range from approximately $100 to $600, depending on the type of piano and the complexity of the move. More challenging moves involving multiple flights of stairs, difficult access, specialty equipment, or exceptionally heavy instruments may require additional evaluation.

If you have a piano that needs to be moved, we strongly encourage you to mention it during the estimating process. Providing photos and details about the piano and access conditions allows us to prepare properly, assign the appropriate crew and equipment, and provide the most accurate quote possible.

Our goal is simple: protect your piano, protect your property, and ensure the instrument arrives safely at its new location.

Can you disassemble and reassemble bed frames, sectionals, and modular furniture?

Arrow Down

Yes. In fact, furniture disassembly and reassembly is not only something we can do—it is often a necessary part of completing a move safely and efficiently.

Many items simply cannot be moved properly without partial disassembly. Bed frames, sectionals, dining tables, entertainment centers, office desks, modular furniture systems, and many other pieces are often too large, too fragile, or too difficult to maneuver through doorways, hallways, staircases, elevators, and tight corners while fully assembled. Disassembling these items helps prevent damage to the furniture, walls, floors, door frames, and other areas of the home.

For most standard household furniture, disassembly and reassembly are included as part of our moving service and are not considered an additional upsell. Our crews arrive equipped with the tools necessary to perform standard furniture assembly and disassembly safely and efficiently.

To help ensure everything stays organized, we carefully collect, bag, and label hardware such as screws, bolts, brackets, and connectors whenever possible. These components are then secured to the furniture they belong to or otherwise clearly identified to simplify reassembly at the destination.

While we regularly handle a wide variety of furniture types, certain specialty items, highly customized installations, permanently mounted furniture, wall-mounted systems, commercial fixtures, antique pieces, and furniture requiring specialized technicians may require additional evaluation. If you have any unusual or specialty furniture, simply let us know during the estimating process so we can prepare accordingly.

Our goal is simple: ensure your furniture is moved safely, efficiently, and reassembled properly so your new home is functional as quickly as possible.

Do you move artwork, antiques, or wine collections?

Arrow Down

Yes. We regularly move artwork, antiques, collectibles, mirrors, sculptures, and other high-value or delicate items as part of both residential and commercial moves. In addition to assisting homeowners, Easy Moving has experience working with art galleries, antique boutiques, auction houses, designers, collectors, and other businesses that require careful handling of valuable and fragile items.

Artwork, mirrors, framed pieces, and similar items are typically protected using professional moving blankets, cardboard protection, mirror cartons, picture cartons, shrink wrap, and other appropriate materials depending on the size, value, and transportation requirements of the item. For especially delicate or valuable pieces, additional protection methods may be recommended.

Antiques receive special attention throughout the moving process. We carefully pad and protect exposed surfaces, fragile components, decorative trim, glass elements, and other vulnerable areas before loading them in secure positions within the truck to minimize movement during transportation.

Wine collections and other specialty collections can also be transported. Bottles are typically packed using appropriate dividers, cushioning materials, and secure packing methods designed to minimize movement during transit. However, customers should be aware that standard moving trucks are not temperature-controlled environments. For highly sensitive, rare, investment-grade, or climate-sensitive collections, we may recommend discussing specialized transportation options before moving day.

If you have artwork, antiques, collectibles, wine collections, or other high-value items, we strongly encourage you to notify us during the estimating process. This allows us to properly evaluate the items, recommend appropriate protection methods, allocate sufficient labor and materials, and discuss available valuation or protection options before the move begins.

Our goal is simple: provide the level of care, protection, and attention that valuable and irreplaceable items deserve, whether we’re moving a family heirloom, a gallery collection, or an entire estate.

Can you relocate a home gym or pool table?

Arrow Down

Yes. We regularly move home gyms, fitness equipment, game-room furniture, and other large specialty items. Whether you’re relocating a single treadmill or an entire home gym setup, our team has the experience and equipment necessary to move these items safely and efficiently.

Fitness equipment such as treadmills, ellipticals, exercise bikes, rowing machines, cable machines, weight racks, and similar equipment are typically partially disassembled when necessary to ensure safe transportation and to allow them to fit through doorways, hallways, staircases, and other access points. Components are carefully protected, organized, and reassembled at the destination whenever applicable.

For heavier items such as commercial gym equipment, loaded weight systems, plate racks, safes, gun safes, and other oversized equipment, additional labor, specialized equipment, or heavy-item fees may apply depending on the weight and complexity involved. If any heavy-item charges are required, they will be discussed with you before the move proceeds.

Pool tables require special consideration due to their size, weight, precision leveling requirements, and delicate slate components. While we can often transport pool tables, proper disassembly, slate handling, reassembly, and leveling may require specialized billiards expertise. Depending on the table type and project requirements, we may either coordinate with a qualified pool table technician or recommend a dedicated billiards specialist to ensure the table is properly disassembled, transported, reassembled, and leveled for optimal performance.

If you have fitness equipment, a pool table, a safe, or any other large specialty item, please let us know during the estimating process. Photos, dimensions, and approximate weights are especially helpful and allow us to properly prepare the crew, equipment, and transportation plan.

Our goal is simple: move specialty items safely, protect your property throughout the process, and ensure everything arrives ready for use at its new location.

Do you offer after-hours or weekend commercial moves to avoid business downtime?

Arrow Down

Yes. In fact, many commercial, office, retail, warehouse, and business relocations are specifically scheduled during evenings, overnight hours, weekends, and holidays to minimize disruption to daily operations and reduce business downtime.

Our team understands that every business has different scheduling requirements. Some companies prefer to move after normal business hours, while others need overnight, weekend, holiday, or phased relocation services to keep operations running smoothly throughout the transition.

While our standard operating hours are typically 7 days per week, we regularly accommodate moves outside normal business hours when scheduling and crew availability permit. Depending on availability, we can perform moves 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including evenings, overnight hours, weekends, and holidays.

We also coordinate with property managers, building administrators, landlords, HOAs, and facility managers regarding freight elevator reservations, loading dock access, parking arrangements, Certificates of Insurance (COIs), security requirements, access credentials, and other building-related logistics to help ensure a smooth and efficient relocation.

Because after-hours and specialty scheduling requests often require advance planning and dedicated crew allocation, we recommend discussing your preferred timeline as early as possible during the estimating process. This allows us to review availability and develop the most efficient moving plan for your business.

Our goal is simple: move your business when it is most convenient for you while minimizing downtime, disruption, and lost productivity.

Can you relocate server rooms or sensitive lab/medical equipment?

Arrow Down

Yes. Easy Moving regularly assists businesses, offices, medical facilities, laboratories, educational institutions, and other organizations with the relocation of sensitive equipment that requires a higher level of care and planning than standard office furniture.

For office technology and IT environments, we can relocate servers, networking equipment, computers, monitors, workstations, printers, copiers, telecommunications equipment, and other electronic devices. Equipment is carefully labeled, organized, padded, and secured during transportation to help ensure an efficient setup process at the destination. When requested, we can also assist with documenting cable layouts, organizing components, and coordinating workstation relocations.

We have also assisted with the relocation of specialized laboratory, research, testing, manufacturing, and medical-related equipment. However, certain instruments may require manufacturer-approved procedures, vendor supervision, calibration services, decommissioning protocols, environmental controls, or specialized transportation arrangements before they can be safely moved.

For highly sensitive, regulated, calibrated, or mission-critical equipment, we strongly recommend involving the equipment manufacturer, service provider, facility manager, or other qualified specialist whenever required. We are happy to coordinate with those professionals to ensure all handling, transportation, and installation requirements are followed appropriately.

Because every piece of technical equipment is different, we encourage customers to provide detailed information, photographs, dimensions, weights, and any manufacturer handling requirements during the estimating process. This allows us to properly evaluate the project, assign the appropriate crew and equipment, and develop a safe transportation plan.

Our goal is simple: protect your equipment, minimize downtime, and ensure your business, laboratory, or facility is operational again as quickly as possible.

Do you provide moving services for senior downsizing or estate transitions?

Arrow Down

Yes. Senior relocations, downsizing projects, estate transitions, and family legacy moves are among the most meaningful services we provide. We understand that these moves are often about much more than transporting furniture—they frequently involve major life changes, emotional decisions, family coordination, and decades of cherished belongings.

Our team approaches these projects with patience, professionalism, and respect. We work at the pace that is most comfortable for the customer and family, helping simplify what can otherwise feel like an overwhelming process.

Many senior and estate moves involve more than one destination. We regularly coordinate multi-stop moves, including deliveries to a new residence, family members’ homes, storage facilities, assisted living communities, retirement communities, donation centers, and other locations. We can also assist with temporary storage solutions when needed.

For customers who are downsizing, we can help transport the items being kept while coordinating the movement of belongings designated for storage, donation, or distribution among family members. Our goal is to create an organized and efficient plan that reduces stress and makes the transition as smooth as possible.

We understand that many items involved in senior and estate moves have significant sentimental value and cannot be replaced. Whether we’re handling family heirlooms, antiques, photographs, collections, or everyday belongings accumulated over a lifetime, we strive to treat every item with the same care and respect we would want for our own families.

Our goal is simple: provide a compassionate, organized, and stress-free moving experience while helping families navigate an important life transition with confidence and peace of mind.

Can you help coordinate donation pickup or junk removal during a move?

Arrow Down

Yes. Downsizing and decluttering before a move is one of the most effective ways to reduce moving costs, save time, and simplify the entire relocation process. The fewer items that need to be packed, loaded, transported, unloaded, and unpacked, the more efficient your move will be.

For customers who wish to donate items, we can often transport donation items to local charities, donation centers, family members, churches, shelters, or other designated locations as an additional stop during the move. This is a popular option for customers downsizing, preparing for retirement, clearing out an estate, or simply looking to reduce the number of items they take to their new home.

We can also assist with the removal of unwanted furniture, appliances, household goods, and other items. Depending on the type and quantity of items involved, disposal or junk-removal services may be handled directly by our team or coordinated through a trusted third-party provider. Additional labor, transportation, disposal, recycling, or landfill fees may apply depending on the scope of the project.

Many customers choose to combine moving, storage, donation, and disposal services into a single coordinated plan. We are happy to help determine the most efficient approach and discuss the available options during the estimating process.

Our goal is simple: help you move only what you truly want to keep while making the donation, disposal, and decluttering process as easy and stress-free as possible.

Do you move pianos and large specialty items?

Arrow Down

Do you move artwork, antiques, or wine collections?

Can you move office equipment or commercial spaces?
